I travelled to Mongolia chasing adventure and connection. When I got there, I absolutely fell in love with the place. One trip led to two, which led to a third, and my envy of the nomadic Mongolian lifestyle grew stronger each visit. This lifestyle was built around Yurts, or as the Mongols call them Gers. This amazing round space that can be set up in 3-4 hours and packed down even faster to be taken to the next destination. This alongside with the energy that a beautiful round space holds pushed me to want a yurt for myself.
Next thing you know I’m organizing a container to send home for myself and several friends that wanted a yurt for themselves. One container led to two, which led to a third and here I am selling traditional handmade Mongolian yurts.
I’ve been lucky enough to meet a wonderful local Mongolian who manufacturers the yurts. It a small family operated business and they take a lot of pride in building high quality yurts at an affordable price.
My longer-term goal for this business is to be able to offer complete yurt tiny homes with fully self-contained off grid bathrooms. With the current housing crisis in Australia, I really do see yurts as a viable temporary dwelling that could really benefit our communities. In the meantime while I work towards this goal I hope to create a community of yurt enthusiasts where we can share information, and tips and tricks so everybody can enjoy the ultimate yurt experience.
